D' Tandoor Review

Hey there guys!So this here is a post that should have happened a few months back. Sorry for being late. Really menat to get this up soon but only have the chance to do so now.

For my birthday , I asked grandma to treat me to lunch. At D' Tandoor. Love the food there by the way. The moment you walk into the restaurant, the aroma of spices and flavours just welcome you and it's so wonderful to be there.

So we ordered the Aloo Gobi. I think this is the picture of that but I can't promise you because these pictures were taken way too long for me to keep track of that. Anyway, this Aloo Gobi was mildly spicy but very fragrant and flavourful from all the spices used. It was okay but honestly I expected more out of this dish. The next dish we ordered was Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani) but I found that a tad too bland. I also expected more spiciness from this dish eventhough it's called Butter Chicken must that's my personal preference. Then, we had the vindaloo. That was fiery hot from all the pepper but the meat was quite tough and in my opinion should have been boiled longer. I did not manage this as I was lazy to chew that day.

Oh! And before I forget for drinks, I ordered
an almond based milkshake (strawberry) while the others ordered sweet lassi, mango lassi and the fruit punch. My milkshake had almond flakes of course and it was very difficult to sip the drink through with a straw. Other than that, it was delicious and so were the rest of the drinks which I also sipped for my pleasure!

And this is another curry I ordered but completely forgot what it was. I don't even have the faintest clue. But what i remember is that it was okay. We also ordered a normal briyani to have with all these dishes and I would have liked to have dessert as well but my stomach had no space that day. When I was there many months back, I have a really wonderful kulfi which is Indian- style ice- cream. I'll definitely have that one next time though.
My rating for this place is 3/5. The food there was not very great. It was okay and delicious but I really did expect more. The last time that I was there in December, the quality was better. Well, that's all. I hope you enjoyed my review. Oh! And thank you for stopping by. Please do Like my blog shop on Facebook. It would mean a lot to me. The link is here

Today,I'll be writing on the benefits of the starfruit. This lovely looking yellowy- green fruit is perfect for the summer time!It tastes absolutely refreshing and is so wonderful!

Okay so the benefits....The reasons why this delicate fruit is good for you...

1)The starfruit is commonly given to mother's who are nursing. It stimulates the flow of milk.
2)Starfruit lowers cholesterol levels.
3)The pickled version of this fruit helps to cure hangovers.
4)It's also used to treat sore eyes.
5)Starfruit can also be used to cure prickly heat.
6)Leaves of the Starfruit can be used to cure inflammation, stomach ulcers and boils.

Hopefully all these will be helpful to you guys some way or another.I got the info from various sources on the Net and all credit goes to them.DO CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT THE REACTIONS YOU MIGHT FACE IF YOU ARE ON ANY TYPE OF MEDICATION AS STARFRUIT REACTS WITH MANY TYPES OF MEDICATION.

Top Five of My Favourite Food...

So hey,it's me again and i thought that today I'll be blogging about my top 5 favourite food.
Food is something that brings different people together and that's what I love about it.Other than the fact it keeps us alive!(hehehe)

Anyway,here goes.

5)Fried Tom Yam Noodles
At the moment,I can't say where my favourite noodles come from.Have not found a restaurant that serves up a really good Fried Tom Yam Noodle. All I know is that once I tried some really good stuff that a friend brought to school for Teacher's Day.Here's a picture that I got of the Net to show you guys what it looks like in case you don't know.Yum yum right?

For me, the qualifications are that the noodles have to be cooked  'Al dente' and have to have really strong flavour.Of course they have to be spicy and sour. And personally,I like them to be cooked using 'Bee Hoon' or rice vermicelli which allows the flavour to be strong.

My favourite place to get Tom Yam Noodles:Well,I don't have one yet,so please tell me where I can get lovely Tom Yam noodles!Feel free!

Pair it with:Ice Lemon Tea!That's my favourite but I would suggest that you pair it with an iced drink  to combat the heat!

 4)Iddiapam Briyani
Well, this is a truly wonderful dish.Simply and delicate, yet flavourful. It's made from rice and kind of resembles rice vermicelli in a medium-sized heap.Really good stuff and not very easy to find.

Hmmm, let's see.My qualifications for this dish are I like to be slightly spicy and with a yellow tinge to the Iddiapam. The Iddiapam of course should be 'Al dente' and not clumped together.

My favourite place to get Iddiapam Briyani:Well,I had a wonderful version at my aunt's house when they had a dinner. The food was catered from Jaya Catering so get your fix there!

Pair it with:Jaya Catering makes a really great Hot Ginger Tea!

Here are the pictures for you to drool on!

3)Briyani Rice
Well, what can I say.If this dish is cooked properly, you'll be cooked.

I like my grains fluffy and well separated,on top of being soft. You can get this at many places nowadays because it's popularity is increasing. The way it's cooked and the flavours vary based on where you buy this dish.

My favourite place to get Briyani Rice or Nasi Briyani:D' Tandoor serves excellent Nasi Briyani!

Pair it with: I'd recommend for you to pair this with a lovely iced apple juice or even a cold soya bean.

2)Tosai Masala
Tosai Masala is a very flavourful version of tosai.Tosai is an Indian style pancake made out of fermented rice flour. The tosai is then stuffed with flavourful potatoes cooked in spices known as 'Aloo Gobi.'

My qualifications are the potatoes have to be well-cooked and infused with the necessary spices. The tosai has to be soft and fluffy, and I love mine to have crispy edges.

My Favourite Place To Get Tosai Masala:Jaya Catering and believe me,it's good!

Pair it with:A lassi of your choice or hot milk tea!

1)Nasi Lemak
Now,see that's what makes me Malaysian! You can get Nasi Lemak anywhere. That really is a true Malaysian thing.

My requirements for this dish are the grains have to be fluffy,well-cooked and separated. And the sambal has to be good.Real good.Or else, the dish is useless.HEHE.

My Favourite Place To Get Nasi Lemak:Old Town White Coffee. And when you're there, get the supreme version which consists of squid, anchovies, and a lovely sambal!

Pair it with:Most people pair it with Teh Tarik but i love to pair it with The Signature Freeze from Old Town as well!

So that's the end of my list. What are your favourite foods?Leave a comment down below!thanks for dropping by.

                                                                                                                                 xoxo

Sunday, April 22, 2012

Hi there!A very good morning to you today.Yeah,it's like about 12 something in the morning right now but just thought that I would blog about the week so far. It's been quite hectic,I had 2 days of uni classes after about 4 and a half months of no-study and no class.Truly amazing where I am studying.Met some great people who are all friendly.Good teacher, too.Anyway, skipping to Friday,my relatives came over from Kuala Lumpur together with my uncle Tony from Australia.Went to Lone Pine Hotel with the folks and had an amazingly great time. Will blog about that later though.Am too tired to go into details. But I will say this,Lone Pine Hotel is the best hotel I've stayed in....EVER!!!I absolutely love it and would really, really like to go again soon.No pics at the moment, too.Other than that,I am planning to make Chicken Pot Pie this week, but not sure when.Got the recipe from the Net and I really, really love it,Seems simple enough.Especially since I've never cooked before!  :P

I keep saying that I wanna cook but so far have not done anything so finally I am going to take a chance and just go for it.Mom says that I will get more confident as I cook more often.I guess that's right.Practice makes perfect, right?I am going to prove it!!!

Here's the link of the recipe that I'm going to make.Whoops!!!It came out at the top but nevermind.HAHA!

Till next time!

xoxo,Denise.

What's the latest?!!!

Hi there, today i wanted to  just basically get back into the normal routine of blogging like how I did last time. It's been quite a while since i last updated so I just thought,Hey....why not?

Anyway, was surfing the Net and came across a picture of these puppies.Absolutely adorable, aren't they?

Looking at these puppies makes me think. Why can't humans just leave things the way they are?Simple and innocent.Yet,human beings choose to corrupt the mind of the younger generation by complicating things. You know, making things complicated? Some things are in fact complicated but can be made easy by asking for the help of family and friends. But some people do not want help. They'd rather appear like they can take on the world instead of just admitting that they are in fact human.Human beings who have feelings and emotions, goal and dreams,a purpose and of course strengths and weaknesses.Human beings who make mistakes.Take puppies or instance,or dogs in general.Ever ready to put your past behind you and never to mention your shortcomings. To always be by your side,no matter how short or fat you may be.Boy,it really does seem that dogs really know how to live life to the fullest. Why keep heavy thoughts of negative mistakes in your heart instead of living a fun-filled life with no regrets?Learn from the dog whose only mission in life is to make others happy, not itself.I really admire dogs for that.

Tip of the day:Say No To Plastic Bags...

24 hours a day!

Good evening, readers.Me here after a really long while.I would like to say I'm back and I'm so sorry for not bogging blogging but at the risk of sounding annoyingly cliche,I think I would rather not.

You see, there are only 24 hours a day and we are expected to divide our time sensibly everyday to perform certain tasks. How does one do this?I for one, certainly do not know how.It puzzles me.That's why human beings get stressed out,I guess. For me,I have to divide my time between revision, keyboard practice, and more revision.I also require rest and entertainment.I don't know how people divide their time, but I assure you that I think only 5% of human beings in the world know how to do so effectively.AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHH!There are only 24 hours in a day!HeLp!

ramblings. . .

HI!I thought that today I would blog about something that's close to my heart......Nah!!!

Anyway,I am just going to type along as the words come into my mind and talk about stuff. Both planned and uncalled for. Both of them.

Ok,so recently I have wanted to go to a wedding.Haven't been to one in years. Please someone just get married already!!!!A Malay wedding is something that I wanna go to.At Malay weddings, those in Malaysia at least, they serve mutton rendang, nasi minyak and of course, the pink-iced-rose-syrup thingy.I absolutely love looking forward to those things in particular but I will be happy to attend just about any type of wedding.I'm even considering wedding-crashing.Hmmmmmm. I guess what I've just said may give you an idea on how badly I want to attend a wedding.

Anyway, other than that,I wish there was a Mexican restaurant somewhere around here. There isn't.I have not tried Mexican food but I think I would love it,I mean look at all the spices. It's all red and . . . .RED!!!

Well, you know how everybody tries to get famous on Youtube and all, well I used to wonder what's it's all about and now I finally get it.I think...I went on Youtube today and pretended I was a talent scout. There really are some gems out there.Beautiful young adults with raw talent. You should go check them out.Pretend you're a talent scout for a day. You'll be amazed at what you find.

Ahhh.I'm thinking of weddings again.People are dressed in their best and everyone's smelling great and people are reunited because 2 souls are getting united....Wonderful isn't it?Have you ever thought about it?I would be quite nervous if I were the caterer.....I mean people's lives depend on this.....On the food.Dramatic, huh?Dramatic but quite true.Ahhh.

Also,of late I have been craving for grapes,I don't know why but I just do.I want to eat them with fresh yogurt or even alone.Don't know why.And you know, being all environmentally geeky and all,I have to admit the days are getting hotter. Is it the radiation?

(Slaps forehead)Duh.

That and global warming.

But keep doing whatever it is you are doing to save the Earth because with the damage human beings have done over the years,it's definitely going to take a while to repair and heal the Earth. But don't worry, all is not lost. You won't see results now but your grand kids will thank you.I even read in the papers last year that scientists are witnessing positive changes to the ozone layer. But now with the radiation,I really don't know.Still keeping the positivity and I know that the ozone layer will be Ok soon. But it will take longer.

Right,as I was saying, the days are getting hotter and all of us have to use the air-cond sometimes whether we like it or not.(I am a strong advocate against it and even I have to use it).But anyways, just a tip to keep you cool throughout the whole day and well satisfied. Most of you might already know this technique so Kudos to that! But I would like to suggest using the A/C few times a day for 10-20 minutes each. That way you can use it kind -of -the- whole day and still feel cool and keep your bill on the low.You can use it 10 times a day and still in the whole day you only used it for 100 minutes which is 1 hour and 40 minutes.I will leave you with pictures of errr. . . . things that have been on my mind lately. And since you have read all the way here, please spare 1 more minute and drop off a comment.Even an anonymous one is appreciated!Tata. . .

Bear in the big blue house intro.flv

Madeline Intro

archies weird mysteries theme song

Gummi Bears Theme (Orginal)

Powerpuff Girls - Theme (HQ)

OLD CARTOONS part six-ten!

 PART SIX

Well, here we are at the countdown of old cartoons and this is part six.At number 5 we have the Powerpuff girls. Now remember, these cartoons are listed according to my favourites and yours could be in a different order.
Okay, back when I was young,I practically wanted to be Blossom, the red one.But now that I think of it ,I wanna be Bubbles. She is just super-sweet and adorable but tho be honest,if she were my sister,I think she would drive me nuts with her super-sweetness!

PART SEVEN

At number four,we have The Adventures of the Gummy Bears.I only remember the name of the yellow one(Sunny) and I know that there's this bad guy who just wants to take over the land! The Gummybeary juice sounds like a tasty thing to have and I would love to have some of those.I mean you can leap as high as 30 feet into the air after like a sip of that juice.

PART EIGHT

The number three is Archie's Weird Mysteries.I would not want to live at Riverdale ,I can tell you that. The weirdest things happen there. And remember,he could never decide between Veronica and Betty.Well,I would totally choose Betty.I'd rather have down to earth than spoilt anyday. And what's up with Reggie?I hate guys or rather people who are in love with themselves.Anyway,Jughead's a sweetie but by the time he's 25,he'll be obese.I mean he can chow down 12 burgers.......at once!!!

PART NINE

Well,at number two of our countdown,we have Madeline.I love, love, love the theme song.Pepito, the son of the ambassador of somewhere or something(Gee,I forgot!) was once a naughty boy but after meeting Madeline,he...changed......transformed.Ok,Ok,not transformed  but became different.I guess a girl as sweet as Madeline can influence a person.HAHAHA

PART TEN-We are finally here!!!

And at number one............drum roll please.......Bear In The Big Blue House!

There is just so much to say about this cartoon. It is on a totally different level compared to the others I've mentioned.I would love to live in the Big Blue House.I mean you practically dance everywhere,it's amazing! It doesn't get any better than that! And,I mean who gets to talk with the moon?Nobody, nobody but Bear!

hugs xoxo

Johnny Bravo Theme Song

OLD CARTOONS PART 4

Hi there. It's Denise here again. It's been a really long while since I last posted anything.I am really truly sorry for those who have come here and found no new material to read for the past month. Please accept my sincerest apologies.

Anyway, back to our countdown and we are at number 7 today.Number 7 for me is Captain Planet and the Planeteers. You know me,big saving-the-world fan and all, this show was maybe the thing that started me wanting to save the world in the first place.Period.I don't remember the names of the characters because this was one of my first cartoons.I watched it when I was like three.Anyway, the theme song is below this post so head on over there and listen to it.Cheerio!
